What can I paste?

Have your own AI assistant write your itinerary with one of the ready-made prompts below, or paste anything that describes your trip, just as it is. Messy is fine.

  • Text from anywhere: booking emails, a travel agent's itinerary, notes from your phone, a chat with friends, a document or a spreadsheet.
  • One file: PDF, Word (.docx), Excel (.xlsx or .xls) or CSV, up to 15 MB. Export Pages, Numbers and Keynote files as PDF first.
  • Up to 10 screenshots or photos at a time, like screenshots of a booking app or a photo of a printed plan.
  • Nothing at all: start blank and add stops yourself.

Overworld turns every place you're going into a stop: where you stay, what you see and do, where you eat, and the airports, stations and ports in between. Places you haven't decided on yet come in as faint, unconfirmed stops.

Plans change, and a stop or two is easy to change by hand. Open the island, tap View full itinerary on the trip card, then use Edit on a stop to change or delete it, or Add a stop to add one. No new file needed.

When the whole plan has changed, tap Update from a new file on the same screen to read the new version. You see what changed before anything is saved, and any stop you added, edited or confirmed yourself stays as it is.

Prompts for your AI assistant

Your AI assistant can write your itinerary for you. Copy a prompt, fill in the brackets, and paste its answer into Overworld.

Plan a trip with your AI

For any AI assistant. Copy it, fill in the brackets, then paste the plan into Overworld.

Help me plan a trip to [where] for [how long] in [when]. I'm traveling with [who], and I love [what you love]. Ask me a few questions first if you need to. Then write the plan as plain text, day by day. For each day, give the town I'm in, where I'm staying and the places I'll go, each by its real name and town. Include the airports, stations and ports I pass through. Where I still need to choose, write "Options:" and list two or three. Only suggest places that really exist. Don't include anyone's name or the street address of a private home.

From your emails

For an AI assistant that can read your email. Copy it, fill in the brackets, then paste the answer into Overworld.

Search my email for my trip to [where] in [when]: flights, trains, ferries, rental cars, hotels and other stays, tours, tickets and restaurant reservations. Skip anything I canceled. Write my itinerary as plain text, day by day, in the order things happen. For each day, give the date and the town I'm in, then each place by its real name and town: the airports (with their codes), stations and ports I pass through, where I'm staying (with check-in and check-out dates), and what I'm doing. Leave out confirmation numbers, booking references, phone numbers, email addresses, prices, travelers' names, and the street address of any private home or rental (give its town only). Use only what's in my email. At the end, under "Not sure", list anything you couldn't confirm and why: a booking that may have changed, a date you had to guess, two emails that disagree.

From your notes

For notes on your phone, in a doc or in a chat. Paste your notes where it says, then paste the answer into Overworld.

Here are my notes for a trip to [where] in [when]: [paste your notes here] Turn them into an itinerary as plain text, day by day, in the order things happen. For each day, give the town I'm in, where I'm staying and the places I'll go, each by its real name and town. Include the airports, stations and ports I pass through. Where I haven't decided yet, write "Options:" and list the choices. Use only what's in my notes, and ask me if anything is unclear. Don't include anyone's name or the street address of a private home.

From a trip you've taken

For any AI assistant. Fill in the brackets, answer its questions, then paste what it writes into Overworld.

Help me write down a trip I've already taken: [where], in [when]. Ask me about it one day at a time: where I stayed, where I went and how I got around. Then write it as plain text, day by day. For each day, give the date and the town I was in, then each place by its real name and town: the airports, stations and ports I passed through, where I stayed (with the dates) and what I did. Only include places that really exist. Don't include anyone's name or the street address of a private home.

From a travel agent's email

For an agent's proposal or final itinerary. Paste the email where it says, then paste the answer into Overworld.

Here's the itinerary my travel agent sent for my trip to [where] in [when]: [paste the email here] Write it as plain text, day by day, in the order things happen. Where the agent offers choices I haven't made, write "Options:" and list them. Use only what's in the email.

From a long PDF or a scan

When a PDF is very long or scanned. Attach it in your AI assistant, then paste the answer into Overworld. A tidy PDF can go straight into Overworld.

Read the PDF I've attached: the itinerary for my trip to [where] in [when]. Use only what's in the PDF. Where it offers choices I haven't made, write "Options:" and list them.

Dream trips are welcome

An island doesn't need anything booked. The trip you keep talking about, a someday list, or a plan you're still deciding on builds an island all the same. Stops you haven't chosen yet stand as faint markers until you pick one.

A trip's status follows its dates, and you can set it yourself: tap the status on the trip card and choose Dreaming.

Sharing your trips

Overworld is made for sharing. Show friends where you've been and where you're going, let other travelers get inspired by your trips, and find ideas for your next one in theirs.

A new trip is yours alone until you're ready. When you are, tap Private on the trip card, check Public and save, then tap Share to send the link. Anyone with the link sees your island: its title and summary, each stop's name, notes and day number, and the real places Overworld matched, like a hotel or a museum.

You're in control

  • Dates show only if you choose. Check Show exact dates to show them. Until then, visitors see Day 1, Day 2 and so on, how long the trip is, and whether it's coming up or over. On an upcoming trip, a festival's or concert's website and Instagram stay hidden too.
  • Booking details stay in your private note. As Overworld reads your itinerary, it moves confirmation numbers, booking references, prices, phone numbers, email addresses and contacts' names into a note on the stop that only you see. An AI does this sorting, so look over your stops before you share a trip.
  • Homes stay off the map. Visitors never see where a vacation rental, villa, apartment, cottage, cabin or homestay is, and a private home's street address goes into your private note.
  • Pins stay yours. A spot you place with Drop a pin is never shown to visitors. They see the stop's name only.
  • Photos lose their location. Location data is removed from screenshots and photos on your phone before they're sent, and again on our server.
  • Uploads don't linger. Overworld reads what you paste or upload with AI to find your stops. A file you upload is deleted as soon as it's been read, and anything left behind is cleared automatically within two hours. The text of your itinerary stays with your trip, for your eyes only, so a later update can be compared with it. Screenshots and photos aren't kept.

How Drop a pin works

Sometimes Overworld can't find a stop on the map: a beach with no name, a friend's farm, a viewpoint off the trail. Open the stop and, under Place, tap Drop a pin. Move the map until the pin sits on the spot, then tap Place the pin here.

The stop then reads “Pinned on the map · only you see this spot”. You can move the pin, change it or undo it at any time. Drop a pin never asks for your location.
